Ogun State was buzzing on Monday as the "Zazuu Zeh" crooner, Habeeb Okikiola—better known to the world as Portable—traded the music stage for a dock at the Federal High Court in Ota. The controversial singer is currently facing a mountain of legal trouble after being arraigned on a nine-count criminal charge.

From alleged street brawls to "repossessing" luxury cars, the details coming out of the courtroom feel like a scene straight out of a Nollywood blockbuster.

The New Year’s Day Drama

The trouble reportedly started on New Year’s Day at Portable’s own bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area. According to the charge sheet, what was meant to be a celebration turned into a chaotic scene.

Portable is accused of:

  • Assaulting his estranged partner, Ashabi Simple.

  • Beating up police officers, including a female inspector, Ogungbe Olayemi.

  • Resisting arrest when the authorities arrived to restore order.

While Ashabi Simple was noticeably absent from the court proceedings, two of her siblings were present to testify as witnesses against the singer.

The N12 Million Benz Saga

Beyond the physical altercations, Portable is also facing a heavy accusation of theft. The prosecution alleges that the singer "waylaid" and stole a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at N12 million, belonging to one Mr. Ileyemi Damilola.

Damilola is just one of several victims listed in the suit, alongside names like Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.

No Bail for the "Street CEO"

Despite his lawyer’s best efforts, the "Ika of Africa" won't be returning to his trenches just yet. The presiding judge declined to grant Portable bail, specifically citing the absence of the female police officer he allegedly assaulted.

The judge ordered that Portable be remanded in custody until the next hearing on January 19.

Plot Twist: Assault in Custody?

Adding another layer to the drama, a viral video has surfaced online appearing to show Portable being assaulted while in police custody. The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed they are aware of the footage and have launched an investigation to determine what happened behind bars.

As it stands, the "Tony Montana of Iyana Ilogbo" will be spending his next few days reflecting on these nine counts from a prison cell. Whether he can "zazuu" his way out of this one remains to be seen.
